Dr. Elkin E. Lucena

As a pioneering researcher, Dr. Lucena was responsible in 1985 for the first live birth by IVF achieved in Latin America.

Subsequently in 1995, he achieved the first live birth in the world of a hemophilia-free male boy. In addition, in 2005, Dr. Lucena produced the first pregnancy and live birth from frozen-thawed eggs in Colombia.

Moreover, his research team developed and established the first HESC line in Latin America in 2005. These breakthroughs have been widely reported in the international medical press. In recognizing of his contributions to biomedicine,

Dr. Lucena has received many awards including:
International Peace Prize by the Authority of the United Cultural Convention of USA.
