Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. There are two main types of dentures. partial dentures and complete dentures are made to custom fit. Dentures can aid with chewing as well as help strengthen muscles controlling your expressions that require the support of your teeth. Dentures may also help with pronunciation problems caused by missing teeth.
The Right Candidates
If you have lost teeth, or are losing teeth, all of your teeth a complete dentures may be discussed with your cosmetic dentist. If some of your teeth remain and some are healthy, a partial denture may be your best solution.

Some possible side effects include: Swelling, minor bleeding, and discomfort around the implant area.
Procedure
Partial Dentures
Removable partial dentures consist of a metal framework with plastic teeth and gum areas. The framework includes metal clasps or other attachments that hold the denture in place. However, partial dentures are removed easily for cleaning.
Fixed partial dentures, which most people call bridges, are cemented in place. They look more like natural teeth. They also have to be supported by nearby healthy teeth.
Bridges are made in several ways. Some are made entirely of porcelain. Some are made with porcelain covering a gold framework. Two types of attachments are used in partial dentures — metal clasps and precision attachments.
Complete Dentures
Complete dentures cover the entire jaw and are sometimes referred to as 'plates'. Complete dentures sit on the gum and cover the bone.
Complete dentures are made to custom fit you, and the process may take a couple appointments. Your dentists will take impressions of your mouth, and select the right size, shape, and color for your new teeth.
Complete dentures do take patience. At first,you may need to chew slower and cut your food into smaller pieces.
Recovery
Dentures do take time getting used to and there is some aftercare involved. At first you may have speech issues but, will overcome them. Some sores may occur, however, this can be prevented with proper dental hygiene and removal of dentures when necessary.
Results
Dentures will provide you with a nice, natural looking appearance and smile. Dentures are made of very durable materials and will last a very long time if they are taken care of. Dentures usually last 5 to 10 years and can correct several problems like speech and chewing.
