Estimated Recovery Time: The breasts will be taped after the surgery for extra support and for reducing swelling. Your surgeon will inform you as to when the tape may be removed.

Pain Factor: Patients are typically under general anesthesia during this procedure, however local anesthesia, or a combination of local anesthesia with sedation are also options. Swelling, bruising and soreness are to be expected. Over-the-counter medications may be used to relieve pain and soreness after the surgery. Your doctor will prescribe you a higher dose pain killer if necessary. Any anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications, such as aspirin should be avoided. Pain and soreness may reccur for several months, especially during the menstrual cycle.


Potential Side Effects/Risks associated with breast reductions: Allergic reactions to the anesthesia or tape, bleeding, unwanted scarring, infection, temporary numbness, swelling, bruising, soreness, itchiness, dryness, stiffness, slight discoloration around the breast area (temporary), loss in sensation, over-sensitivity, inability to breast-feed, asymmetry in the breasts.
