Our donors

The UK Cypriot Fertility Association, through our unique link with Cyprus IVF Centre (CIC) has access to a large and diverse pool of young Caucasian donors and we are able to provide donors from African, Asian and Indian subcontinent backgrounds. We will usually offer you a choice of suitable donors allowing you to be able to feel comfortable with the choice you make. The donors are all young, highly educated and rigorously screened and importantly, unlike most egg-sharers, do not suffer any fertility problems themselves.

Donors are women of 18-30 years of age. Most of them are 21-28 years old and often students or graduates of former Soviet Republics such as Russia, Ukraine and Moldova who are living or studying in Turkey and Cyprus.
The Donors will have a normal body weight, healthy medical and genetic history (including her family) and will have tested negative for all the infectious disease screening performed according to the standard criteria of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).

Our egg donors cannot donate more than three times. Each egg donor undergoes an extensive consultation with the assistance of a doctor and a nurse, to determine her suitability for egg donation.
Physical characteristics required by the recipient and the blood groups are matched before identifying most suitable donors for each recipient.

All egg donors are fully screened prior to being accepted. Baseline ultrasounds and blood work will be carried out to determine hormone levels, absence of substance abuse, sexually transmitted or other diseases, and her physical eligibility to undergo follicle stimulation and egg retrieval.

Psychological screening and counselling is also carried out in all cases to ensure that the candidate egg donor is able to deal with the psychological aspect of the treatment. Genetic screening, when indicated, to test whether the individuals carry a genetically transmitted disease is carried out.

The criteria for donor selection include:

• Age less than 30 years old
• Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) level not more than 8 IU/L
• Body Mass Index (BMI) not more than 25
• No previous ovarian surgery
• No personal history or family history of genetic or familial illness
• No history of infertility

In addition, all donors are screened and must be completely clear with respect to:

• Chlamydia
• CMV
• Cystic Fibrosis Gene
• Hepatitis B
• Hepatitis C
• HIV
• Kidney function
• Liver function
• Syphilis

If additional screening of the egg donor is requested for other rare genetic disorders, the next step is for the husband/partner to be screened for carrier status. If he is found to be positive, the egg donor is then screened.

About London, United Kingdom

IVF treatment in UK

Within the City of Westminster, the entertainment district of the West End has its focus around Leicester Square, where London and world film premieres are held, and Piccadilly Circus, with its giant electronic advertisements. London's theatre district is here, as are many cinemas, bars, clubs and restaurants, including the city's Chinatown district, and just to the east is Covent Garden, an area housing speciality shops. The United Kingdom's Royal Ballet and the English National Ballet are based in London and perform at the Royal Opera House, the Coliseum, Sadler's Wells Theatre and the Royal Albert Hall. Islington's 1 mile (1.6 km) long Upper Street, extending northwards from The Angel, has more bars and restaurants than any other street in the UK. Europe's busiest shopping area is Oxford Street, a shopping street nearly 1 mile (1.6 km) long—which makes it the longest shopping street in the world—and home to many shops and department stores including Selfridges. The adjoining Bond Street in Mayfair is an extremely upmarket location, home to fashion, jewellery, and accessories design houses. Knightsbridge—home to the Harrods department store—lies just to the southwest. Together with these, the fashionable shopping areas of Sloane Street, and Kings Road represent London's prestigious role in the world of fashion. London is home to designers Vivienne Westwood, Galliano, Stella McCartney, Manolo Blahnik, and Jimmy Choo among others; its renowned art and fashion schools make it an international centre of fashion alongside Paris, Milan and New York.
The Trooping the Colour held in 2006 to mark the Queen's 80th birthday. It is held every year as a military parade performed by regiments of the Commonwealth and the British Army.
London offers a great variety of cuisine as a result of its ethnically diverse population. Gastronomic centres include the Bangladeshi restaurants of Brick Lane and the Chinese food restaurants of Chinatown. There are a variety of regular annual events. The beginning of the year is celebrated with the relatively new New Year's Day Parade, while traditional parades include November's Lord Mayor's Show, a centuries-old event celebrating the annual appointment of a new Lord Mayor of the City of London with a procession along the streets of the City, and June's Trooping the Colour, a very formal military pageant to celebrate the Queen's Official Birthday.
