THE CLINIC


All the examinations and surgeries (refractive surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma, cornea, uvea retina, vitreoretinal surgery, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastic, and contact lenses) are performed by experienced physicians using state of the art technological devices. Computed and manual devices such as autorefractokeratometer, air puff and aplanation tonometer (for the measurement of intraocular pressure), direct and indirect ophthalmoscope are being used in the center; and patient records are saved in the computer database.


Almost 100% of the cataract surgeries are being performed under drop anesthesia using the acoemulsification technique that does not require stitches. All kinds of complicated vitreoretinal surgeries are being successfully performed including pars planavitrectomy (to treat vision loss due to diabetes), internal limitan membrane peeling, foveal translocation surgery for macula degeneration due to senor age. Cornea transplants are being performed using donor corneas attained from Eye Banks. Glaucoma (eye tension), cross-eye vision and retina decollement surgeries are carried out using the most appropriate methods.

Excimer Laser applications performed for correction of myopic, astigmatic and hypermetropic vision are being carried out using LASIK method and drop anesthesia.
Memorial Ophthalmology Center has been successfully conducting Presbyopia related studies for 2 years. Another eesearch subject of the Center is a new technique to perform on patients with glaucoma. This new technique is “eye stent application” just like heart stents. This technique has been performed at Memorial Hospital for about a year and a half. MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
