Memorial Ophthalmology Center provides treatments such as refractive surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma, cornea, uvea retina, vitreoretinal surgery, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastic and contact lenses. These treatments are carried out by experienced physicians using state of the art technologies.

Computed and manual devices such as autorefracto-keratometer, air puff and aplanation tonometer (to measure intraocular pressure), direct and indirect ophthalmoscope are used for diagnostic testing.

Almost all cataract surgeries are performed under drop anesthesia using the acoemulsification technique. The main advantage of this technique is that it does not require stitches.

A wide variety of complicated vitreoretinal surgeries are successfully undertaken at the Memorial Hospital Laser Eye Surgery Center. These include pars planavitrectomy (to treat vision loss due to diabetes), internal limitan membrane peeling and foveal translocation surgery for macular degeneration.

Cornea transplants are performed using donor corneas obtained from eye banks. Glaucoma (eye tension), cross-eye vision and retina decollement surgeries are carried out using the most appropriate methods.

Excimer Laser applications are performed to correct myopic, astigmatic and hypermetropic vision.

The Memorial Ophthalmology Center has been successfully conducting presbyopia related studies for 2 years. Another thing that the Center is researching is a treatment for patients with glaucoma. This new technique is referred to as “eye stent application” and has been successfully performed at Memorial Hospital for almost 2 years.
