Hip Replacement
Total hip replacement surgery is a procedure that can help people with severe hip damage and chronic hip pain. Hip replacement operations have a high rate of success in terms of restoring pain free living. People with prosthetic hips can walk without a cane, play non-impact sports and function normally.
During the operation, an incision is made on the outer aspect of the hip, 4-6 inches down the length of the leg. The top end of the thigh bone is removed and a ball on a stem is placed into it. The hip socket is hollowed out to make a shallow cup and an artificial socket is placed into it. The artificial part of the thigh bone can then fit into this socket. The prosthetic is usually made from cobalt chrome and titanium.
Hip Resurfacing
Hip resurfacing involves surgically replacing the arthritic surface of the hip joint with metal-on-metal parts. The purpose of the operation is to stop the bones from rubbing against each other, which causes chronic pain in patients with severe hip damage. Hip resurfacing is considered an alternative to hip replacement. In a hip replacement, the entire femoral head is replaced with manmade parts, whereas in a hip resurfacing operation, the femoral head is preserved and only the surface is replaced. Some orthopedic specialists have suggested that this bone preservation makes hip resurfacing a superior treatment to hip replacement, especially in more active, younger patients.
Knee Replacement
A knee replacement is a surgical procedure involving the replacement of the faulty knee joint with a prosthetic. During a total knee replacement, the end of the femur bone is removed and replaced with a metal shell. The end of the lower leg bone (tibia) is also removed and replaced with a plastic piece with a metal stem. Depending on the condition of the kneecap portion of the knee joint, a plastic "button" may also be added under the kneecap surface.

About Guadalajara, Mexico
Guadalajara is the capital city of the Mexican state of Jalisco, and the seat of the municipality of Guadalajara. The city is located in the central region of the state and in the western-Pacific area of Mexico.
With a population of 1,600,940 it is Mexico's second most populous municipality.
The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area includes other adjacent municipalities and has a population of 4,112,332 although it is estimated that the next count will show nearly 6 million inhabitants, making it the second most populous by far in the metropolitan area in Mexico, behind Mexico City, and the 23rd largest metropolitan area of the Americas. The municipality is the most densely populated in Mexico after the Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl in the State of Mexico.
With an expectation for high growth within the next five years, tourism is now one of the most important sectors in the Guadalajaran economy. It is an important tourist destination center in itself and serves as an axis of an array of nearby tourist destinations (Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Mazatlan).
Guadalajara is well connected by modern highways to Mexico City, to the Northwest and to the major beach resorts of Manzanillo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Guadalajara's airport is the third most active of the country (after Mexico City and Cancún) with direct flights to many Mexican and American cities. It also has a lively and distinctive network of car-free streets.
Guadalajara is also one of the world's favorite places for Americans and Canadians to retire due to its calm and secure environments, most living in the Chapala lake's surroundings.
