Tolga Umar
I am the founder and company owner of VisitandCare.com. I recently returned to my home-country of Turkey with my family after nearly 13 years of living in the United States. I started this company with the idea to provide everyone, everywhere with affordable healthcare with the perk of a relaxing vacation.
I have a degree in marketing and advertising and a Masters degree in business. My career began in the United States working for the The Boeing company in Commercial Airplanes Division.
My daily tasks at VisitandCare.com are to administrate and manage the company. It is also my responsibility to seek out and approve new hospitals and clinics.
I am married to Brandie Umar and have two children. During my very little free time I enjoy playing with my kids, traveling with my wife, and watching soccer.
Didem Yoruk
As the International Patient Coordinator, it is my job to ensure online inquiries and quotes are met in a timely fashion and directed to the most appropriate clinics and hospitals. Every patient is called by phone in an attempt to gather information so that we can work together to get the best destination for the best price. Some patients are already planning trips to certain cities which makes having treatment even easier and more cost friendly. By forming relationships with my patients, I can ensure they get the most accurate information on surgeons, clinics and procedures as well as assist in booking appointments and assisting with hotel arrangements.
I am of Turkish decent, born and raised in Toronto, Canada and have recently moved to Istanbul, Turkey to get a taste of the European lifestyle and culture which I have always loved. I graduated from York University in 2004 with an Honors Degree in Business and Society and have extensive experience in Customer Relationship Management. I understand that traveling abroad to have medical treatment may seem frightening so I try my best to assist in making my patients as comfortable as I can by providing references and one on one conversations with medical professionals. The clinics and hospitals we work with are of highest quality and standards, and since I am in constant contact with them, I trust that my patients will get the same kindness and expertise I am met with. I look forward to hopefully assisting you one day!
Heather Martin Durkaya
I am the E-Commerce Marketing Manager at VisitandCare.com. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, graduated with a degree in Linguistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2005, and then moved to Turkey shortly after to broaden my cultural horizons and be closer to my husband’s family. At VisitandCare.com, I am responsible for increasing awareness and understanding of the company using a range of marketing tools, including publications, website content, market research, and establishing partnerships. I have previous experience in marketing with some major film and television production companies in the Turkish Film Industry, as well as experience in the publishing world.
As an American living in Turkey, I have had the chance to see the upsides and the downsides of both worlds. One thing I know for sure is that health care services in Turkey, and in many developing countries, are just as valuable as in any city in the developed world. Due to lower standards of living in developing countries, and many other reasons, highly qualified, board certified, English-speaking doctors and surgeons operate for lower costs, therefore making the cost of healthcare in these countries, unbeatable, especially for westerners. Now that I have witnessed this evolution in the developing world first hand, I will think twice about returning to my home-country for healthcare services. I hope that I can assist potential clients in their understanding of how medical tourism works, and what our company can do for them.
