Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications should be avoided two weeks before the procedure to reduce bruising. A numbing cream may be applied to the area that will be concentrated on. The doctor will then mark points on the face for where the needles will be injected. When the botox filler is injected into the marked areas on the skin, which may not necessarily be on the wrinkles themselves, the toxins that are released into the nerve endings stop the muscles from contracting, which cause the skin to wrinkle, resulting in softer wrinkles.

Good Candidates for Botox Injections: Healthy individuals between the ages of 35 and 65 who are free from neurological disease. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not be treated with Botox.

Average Duration of a Botox Injection Procedure: 10-20 minutes

Estimated Recovery Time: Mild redness in the affected area can be associated with botox, but only lasts a few hours. There is no “healing” period for this non-invasive procedure, however the patient will not notice the results for 3-7 days.
