Overview of Procedure
The main objective of the gluteal implant procedure, commonly referred to as butt implants, buttock enlargement, buttock augmentation is to enhance the size and shape of the buttock area by the insertion of silicone implants that have been carved and shaped by an aesthetic surgeon to suit each patient’s body type. Liposuction or a buttock lift is commonly accompanied by the gluteal implant procedure for more satisfying results. The Right Candidates Good Candidates for Gluteal Implant Surgery: Healthy non-smoking individuals. The minimum age requirement for this surgical operation should be 18. Risks and Side Effects Potential Side Effects/Risks associated with Gluteal Implant Surgery: Allergic reaction to anaesthesia, shifting of the implant, bleeding, unwanted scarring, infection, temporary numbness, soreness, stiffness. Surgery The first step is a detailed consultation with your surgeon, who will determine the best method that will achieve your desired end results.After the patient has undergone a general or local anaesthesia, the surgeon makes an incision in between the buttock, just along the natal cleft. Pockets are created in each cheek, just beneath the gluteus maximus muscle, for where the silicone implants will be placed. After the implants are placed, the incisions are closed with either dissolvable stitches or removable stitches, in which case the patient may or may not be required to return to the hospital for a follow-up visit to have the stitches removed. Patients have the option of going under a general anaesthesia or a local anaesthesia with sedatives. Many patients prefer to be sleeping during the procedure, and therefore choose to be under general anaesthesia. This procedure is outpatient, which means that the patient can return home the same day of the surgery, unless informed otherwise by the surgeon. Average Duration Gluteal Implant Surgery: 1 hour Recovery During the procedure, the patient will be under general or a local anaesthesia with sedatives. Walking, sitting and moving might be very painful for several days after your surgery. Pain medication(s) will be prescribed to alleviate any pain you may experience. Estimated Recovery Time: 2-4 weeks The patient may return to work about a week after the operation, however strenuous activity is to be avoided for 4 weeks to several months following the surgery. Results The patient will see the results of the surgery immediately, however as time passes, the implants will soften and feel more and more natural. |
