Overview of Procedure

Procedure The first step is a detailed consultation with your surgeon, who will determine the best method to achieve your desired end results. Cellulite may be removed surgically by using liposuction or laser lipolysis to break up and remove the fat deposits that have caused a build-up and latency in certain regions of the body, resulting in a dimpled-appearance. A lower body lift is also a possible option for cellulite removal, in which the skin around the affected area is lifted and the muscles are tightened, as in the face lift procedure. Incisions are closed with dissolvable or removable stitches, in which the patient may or may not be required to return to the hospital to have the stitches removed. This procedure is outpatient, which means that the patient may return home the same day of the surgery. Average Duration of Cellulite Removal: 2-4 hours Recovery Patients may go under a local anaesthesia with sedatives, but general anaesthesia is also an option. Swelling and bruising are to be expected, which typically subsides in about a week.Prescription pain medications should be sufficient enough to relieve pain and soreness after your procedure. Be sure to avoid anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin for several weeks following the procedure. The affected areas may stay numb for about 2 days. A compression garment may be worn for 3 days- 1 week to reduce swelling and support the affected area. The patient may be able to return to work after one week, but sitting down may be painful for the first week or two following the surgery. Results The results of cellulite surgery are gradual, and complete cellulite removal is not guaranteed. The patient should begin noticing the results of this procedure within a few months. |
