The Plastic Surgery Institute of Panama is operated by Dr. Luis Picard-Ami and Dr. Dr. Luis Daniel Crespo, members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Surgeries are done at the Johns Hopkins Affiliated Punta Pacifica Hospital, San Fernando Hospital, or Centro Medico Paitilla Medical Center.

Plastic surgery encompasses both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem.

Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective. Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body, caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve functions, but may also be done to approximate a normal appearance.

Reconstructive surgery is generally covered by most health insurance policies, although coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary greatly.

This symbol designates surgeons who are Active members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. They are certified in the specialty of plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and are dedicated to the highest standards of patient welfare and surgical excellence.

Panama, officially the Republic of Panama, is the southernmost country of Central America. Situated on an isthmus, some categorize it as a transcontinental nation connecting the north and south part of America.
