My overall experience with Dr. DiMaggio was very positive and I would recommend him to anyone considering FFS. Generally speaking, I would say that Dr. D. is a highly skilled surgeon and also an artist. Those are two of the main reasons that I chose him. His fees are quite reasonable and that was probably the third most compelling reason. I happen to know 3 women personally who had gone to him before me and they all looked very good and natural. That gave me the first-hand knowledge I needed to be confident that he would do good work with me as well. Above all, Dr. DiMaggio are trustworthy...

My experience with Dr. DiMaggio and was outstanding from beginning to end. I chose Dr. DiMaggio first and foremost for the quality of his work; his technique showed a natural aesthetic that I was hoping for. It wasn’t difficult for me to ultimately choose Dr. DiMaggio for my FFS, and I’m so thankful for my decision. My experience in Buenos Aires was great and I really enjoyed my time there, I was sad to leave (but I look forward to returning!). The healing process is long, but month by month I saw the doctor’s work emerge and I am so very happy with my results. As I tell people who ask, my FFS was the single most important step in my transition, as it solidified my outward identity to the world on a daily basis, and it has made it possible for me to pass seamlessly.

What is Abdominal Etching (Liposculpture)?

Abdominal etching (liposculpture) is a cosmetic surgery procedure where an individual’s abdominal muscles are defined using liposuction. Unlike a traditional tummy tuck that involves the removal of significant amounts of fat and skin. Abdominal Etching is best suited for those who are already close to their ideal weight since no skin and only small amounts of fat will be removed as the surgeon is sculpting the appearance of the abdomen.

Abdominal etching was developed in the early 1990’s and its popularity has been steadily increasing for the last 20 years. Both men and women want to undergo this surgery so they can achieve the chiseled abs and flat stomach that are eye-catching today.

Abdominal etching is not a weight loss surgery. If you are having weight issues then it is best to look into alternative treatments that will give you your desired results.

If you have already had a tummy tuck or liposuction, then you can travel abroad for abdominal etching. This procedure cannot be carried out at the same time but rather at a later date.

A Good Candidate for Abdominal Etching (Liposculpture)

During a tummy tuck procedure, loose muscles are tightened using stitches. Abdominal etching is only carried out for patients who already have reasonably tight muscles and are seeking to extensively define them. If you require more than what this type of plastic surgery offers, you may be a good candidate for a tummy tuck.

Abdominal Etching (Liposculpture) Procedure

Abdominal etching surgery is done under general or local anesthetic. If you choose local anesthetic, the plastic surgeon may give you sedatives as well. It is normally an outpatient procedure so you will not be required to stay overnight in a hospital. You will, however, be monitored for a few hours after the surgery to assure stability.

Before the surgery, the plastic surgeon will mark on your abdomen indicating where your muscles are when you flex. The markings will allow the surgeon to introduce the grooves with a special cannula during the procedure. Liposuction is carried out through tiny incisions made on your body to implicate these grooves. The incisions will take a couple of weeks to heal.

Average Duration of Abdominal Etching Surgery: 2-3 hours
