What is Buttock Reduction?
Buttock reduction (butt reduction) can help you achieve pleasantly sculpted buttocks. The buttock is reduced in size with liposuction to fit the rest of your body. The new contour will give a new, sexy youthful appearance to the backside. The buttock reduction procedure is often done in conjunction with the thigh lift procedure, buttock lift, tummy tuck, or liposuction on other areas of the body.
A Good Candidate for Buttock Reduction
The minimum age requirement for this procedure should be 18 years of age.
Buttock Reduction Procedure
Liposuction is the most commonly used method for the buttock reduction procedure. One or two small incisions are made either in the crease of the buttocks or at the top of the natal cleft.
A cannula, a small tube-like instrument, is inserted where fat will be removed. The area will be sculpted into a more flattering shape and size. Liposuction can only be done to a certain degree. Overdoing it will cause the skin to hang, or present an unnatural appearance.

Potential side risks and side effects associated with buttock reduction surgery can be manifested to allergic reaction to anesthesia, shifting of the implant, bleeding, unwanted scarring, infection, temporary numbness, soreness, and stiffness.
Recovery from Buttock Reduction
Swelling and bruising is to be expected. Walking will be painful for the first couple of days following the surgery.
Over-the-counter pain medications should be sufficient enough to relieve pain and soreness after the surgery. Be sure to avoid anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin for several weeks following the surgery. The estimated recovery time is 3-4 weeks. If your job does not require strenuous activity, returning to work within 3 weeks should be safe.
Sports and physical activities can be resumed 4-6 weeks after the operation.
